Giada Gaia Cicala, 25enne milanese, laureata a Urbino in “Design e Discipline della Moda” con tesi dal titolo “Ri-vestirsi di significati, ethical and eco-friendly fashion”. Gli studi e le ricerche per la tesi e l’esperienza londinese da “From Somewhere”, label di moda recycle e curatrice di Esthetica, la parte etica all’interno della London Fashion Week, le hanno permesso di comprendere gli scenari sul quale si fonda l’attuale produzione moda, le sue relative implicazioni e le alternative sostenibili. Come conseguenza nasce ECOLOGINA. Creazioni 100%Recycle inventate recuperando i tessuti di scarto delle aziende tessili e i capi d’abbigliamento non più utilizzati, salvandoli dalle discariche e trasformandoli in vestiti ricercati e variopinti. Il recycle dunque come soluzione alle questioni ambientali: dare una seconda vita ai vestiti significa inquinare meno, salvare energie e ridurre il bisogno di spazio nelle discariche... e negli armadi della gente. ”Le mie creature sono pezzi unici e artigianali, nascono attraverso un percorso che dà priorità ai materiali, attribuendogli il massimo dell’importanza e lasciandomi guidare da questi. L’esistenza di limiti stimola l’inventiva per trovare soluzioni, il trasformare ciò che già esiste in qualcosa di nuovo mi spinge a destreggiarmi per applicare la giusta soluzione.” ECOLOGINA restituisce vita e dignità a tessuti altrimenti destinati a morire bruciati in inquinanti inceneritori o a marcire in stracolme discariche. Questa rinascita del tessuto attribuisce un valore aggiunto a ECOLOGINA, il piacere estetico si arricchisce di qualità etiche superando l’idea di una moda frivola e senza essenza, rigorosamente Made in Italy!
Giada Gaia Cicala is a 25 years old designer, graduated in 'Design and Fashion Disciplines' in Urbino, with a thesis on eco-fashion called 'Get dressed of meanings, etichal and eco-friendly fashion'. The researches behind this final work, together with the great work experience at the famous london ecofashion brand 'From Somewhere', significantly contributed to her understanding of sustainable alternatives at the polluting fashion system. More precisely, at 'From Somewhere' Giada had the opportunity to experience the recycling and upcycling of fabrics, and she could partecipate to 'Aesthetica', the ethic part of London Fashion Week, of which "From Somewhere" represents the curator. Ecologina came to life as a consequence of these fundamental experiences. Her eco-friendly and sustainable fashion is based on 100 per cent recycled creations, realized by saving fabric left -overs from textile companies and transforming them into sophisticated and colourful clothes. Recycling is considered as a solution for the enviromental issues: giving a second life to clothes, a big amount of textiles is saved from landfills. Recycling means also pollute less as possible, saving energies and reducing environmental impacts. "my creations are unic handmade pieces, they born thank to the importance given to the materials...I really feel inspired by them.... The existence of limits stimulates my creativity in finding smart solutions; transforming something that already exists in something new, gives me the strenght to find the better way to invent." Ecologina returns dignity and life to fabrics that are just about to die in polluting incenerators or in overflowing landfills. These fabrics gives an added value to every Ecologina's piece; ethic qualities enrich the aesthetic pleasure and overcome the idea of a superficial-frivolous, free of essence fashion, strictly made in Italy!
